ROYAL Wootton Bassett suffered a last-gasp 3-2 defeat to Westbury and Union Bankers in Central One of the GoCrea8 League.

The club, who wore armbands in memory of former clubmate Stephanie Wheeler who passed away the previous weekend, went into the game looking for their first win of the league campaign.

However, it was Westbury who opened the scoring when they deflected the ball into the following a short corner routine in the eighth minute.

Martyn Chivers levelled the scored for the hosts after he tucked away Craig McLauchlin’s cross.

But parity was short-lived as Westbury scored from another short-corner routine.

After four consecutive short corners after the break, Bassett’s Jakeen Mical Lee pounced on a loose ball to play in man-of-the-match Christopher Lambert to make it 2-2.

However, with time running out, Westbury grabbed their decisive third goal from another short corner.

DEVIZES Ladies had to settle for a share of the spoils in their East Division clash with Wimborne.

Lorna Myerscough gave them the lead only for Wimborne to grab a late leveller.

ROGER Edwards’ penalty flick was scant reward for Devizes men as they suffered a 7-1 defeat at Penarth in the North Conference.

CHIPPENHAM A maintained their fine form in Central Two as they defeated Bath Buccs D 3-2.

Chippenham took the lead lead after 15 minutes when Chippenham won a penalty corner, which was duly dispatched by Nigel Stonham.

However, a defensive error on the halfway line gifted the ball to Buccs and they made no mistake in levelling the scores.

In the second half, Marcus Vevey put Chippenham back into the lead with a fine finish, only to see Buccs equalise once more, this time from a penalty corner.

Chippenham grabbed the win in the closing stages when Instone stole the ball from the edge of the D and rounded the Buccs keeper.

CHIPPENHAM C were unable to recover from going 2-0 down in their match with Royal Wootton Bassett B Despite conceding both goals in the opening 10 minutes, Chippenham shored up their defence afterwards and while their were some fine performances from Cameron Larkins, Harry Stanley, Mathew Baker and Adam Timinerlake, the score remained 2-0.

CHIPPENHAM D suffered a 3-2 defeat to West Wilts C as Pete Aaron put in a man of the match performance.

CHIPPENHAM Ladies 4th suffered a 4-2 defeat at Marlborough 2nd, with Meg Hand netted both of the visitors goals.
