SWINDON Town have confirmed their first move of transfer deadline day, signing Watford midfielder Sean Murray on a free transfer.

Murray 22, has signed a one-year contract at the County Ground, with an option for a further year, ending a 14-year association with the Hornets.

Highly-rated Murray, who has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at Under 17, 19 and 21 level, is an academy graduate at Vicarage Road, who made his professional debut for the club aged 17 in a Championship tie against QPR.

Having debuted on the penultimate day of 2010/11, Murray went on to score seven goals in 19 starts during the second half of 2011/12, earning rave reviews for his performance against Tottenham Hotspur in an FA Cup tie.

He signed an extended contract after that and, in the 2013/14 season, made 39 appearances in the Hornets' first team.

He had six months out of the 2014/15 campaign with a knee injury and has not featured since January 2015, spending much of last season on loan at Wigan Athletic where he made only eight appearances.

Murray has made 85 appearances for the Hornets, scoring 14 goals and netted the winner as Watford's Under 23 side beat their Millwall counterparts 3-2 yesterday.
