SWINDON United Churches took eight points from their abandoned game with Biddestone 2nd in Division Two.

Having won the toss and electing to bat, Churches top order avoided a repeat of the disastrous start they suffered at Bradford on Avon just two weeks previous as openers Matt Runkel (55) and Jimmy Mann (17) got the team going before the latter was caught at backward point.

Danny Hunt (25) and Runkel then shared a 50-run second wicket partnership before falling in quick succession to leave Churches 105-3.

Chris Gilchrist (54) and Liam Brooks (23) then ensured the innings didn’t unravel as they helped get Churches to 208-7.

However, the rain thwarted Biddestone from getting their reply started.

Rajat Dhir hit an unbeaten 112 for Combe Down as they scored 211-6 in their abandoned game with Beckington.

Division One

BEAR Flat extended their lead at the summit to 18 points as they despatched Beckington by four-wickets.

Going into the game level on points with Royal Wootton Bassett, who’s game against Nationwide House was abandoned after 16.4 overs with Bassett on 53-2, Bear Flat set about dismissing their hosts for 121.

The leaders then reached 86-6 in their reply off 18.5 overs when the rain came with time to make a 25-over contest the Duckworth/Lewis target was set at 68 handing Bear Flat victory with no need to return.

Division Three

SWINDON A the gap between themselves and table-topping Bath Hosptials open up to 36 points as they fell to a 29-run reverse to the leaders.

Bath posted 252-5 with Toby Patrick leading the way with a knock of 115, while they restricted the County Ground men, who were given a target of 185 from 33 overs, to 155-9.

Division Four

Chippenham 2nd remain top after their five-wicket win over White Horse.

Frankie Vaz’s 4-30 helped restrict the visitors to 188-9 before Paul Bates (67*) and Richard Bates (43*) saw the Hardenhuish Park men home in the 41st over.

Divison Five

BIDDESTONE 3rd suffered a 30-run defeat at Nationwide 2nd.

The hosts batted first and posted 126-9 with Rory Avery top scoring with 28 not out, while Jon Cleverly (3-7) and Sebastian Galardo (3-22) were the pick of the Biddestone attack.

The visitors, however, were skittled out for 96 with only opener Chris Meggs (30*) and Will Pritchett (23) reaching double figures for Biddestone. Steve Lewis lead the charge for Nationwide with 3-7.

Division Six

POTTERNE 4th won the only game to be played in the division as they beat Heytesbury and Sutton Veny by four wickets after chasing down the visitors total of 189-6.

Division Seven

PURTON 2nd claimed a two-wicket success over their Westbury counterparts after bowling them out for 204 in the final over.

Neil Little got Purton’s reply off to the perfect start as the opener hit 81 as got home with 10 balls to spare, despite Simon Higgins 5-39.

Division Eight

BOX 2nd romped to a 140-run success over Spye Park 2nd in the only game in the division to survive the rain.

The visitors batted first and posted 190-9 before skittling Spye out for 50 in 23 overs.

Division Nine

BIDDESTONE 4th saw the game with their Chippenham counterparts abandoned with Chippenham reaching 210-6 before the rain brought a premature end to the game.

Greg Smith (38) and Steve Richardson (36) led the way for the visitors, while Harry Stanley (2-28) and Heath Turck (2-43) the pick of the Biddestone bowlers.
