SWINDON Town are running the rule over four triallists, including a South American defender with an international cap to his name and a midfielder who became an internet sensation for outclassing England international Raheem Sterling.

Luke Williams’ side returned to pre-season training at Royal Wootton Bassett Town’s Gerrard Buxton Sports Ground yesterday and as he works on constructing his team for upcoming 2016-17 League One campaign, four free agents are currently looking to earn deals at the County Ground.

Midfielders Conor Thomas and Jack Powell, both 22, are among Town’s quartet of potential recruits, with the former released by boyhood club Coventry City, for whom the ex-Liverpool target made 117 appearances, whilst former West Ham United trainee Powell was recently let go by Millwall.

Defender Ronald Huth, 26, was capped by Paraguay in a 4-2 friendly loss against Argentina in May 2011 and has been a free agent since December 2015 after leaving Bolivian outfit Blooming as they suffered a financial crisis.

And perhaps the most intriguing of Swindon’s triallists is Italian-born non-league midfielder Christian Nanetti, who was most recently with Ryman Isthmian League outfit East Grinstead Town.

Nanetti, 24, has also featured for the likes of Havant & Waterlooville and Dover Athletic but shot to fame in 2010 when he beat England and Manchester City star Sterling in Soccer AM’s ‘Skill Skool’ challenge – the pair were both QPR trainees at the time.

A YouTube clip of Nanetti's display on the Sky Sports comedy-football chat show has been viewed nearly 800,000 times.
