SWINDON Town boss Luke Williams is hoping that there will be no changes to the festive programme.

The County Ground men will travel to Millwall on Boxing Day before making the trip to MK Dons on New Year's Eve.

The Town chief, who will welcomed his squad back to pre-season training this morning, believes that the four-day break in between fixtures will help his side.

Last season, Town hosted Gillingham on Boxing Day before heading north to Burton Albion on December 28 to take on a team that had not played since December 19.

“We have had a quick look at Boxing Day and we have not got to travel too far,” Williams told BBC Wiltshire.

“We know that it will be a tough game, they were excellent last season and I expect them to build on that.

“I think the next one, MK Dons away, that will be very tough. I’m hoping that the fixture stays on the 31st as it gives us that little bit longer to recover.

“The season that has just finished, we played Gillingham on Boxing Day and then Burton Albion on the 28 away from home.

“They had had their Boxing Day game called off, so they had something like 12 days to recover, where we had only 48 hours, so that was tough.

“I think that gives us a better chance playing Boxing Day and 31st. Millwall and MK Dons are going to be two of the toughest teams that we play.”

Williams is also hoping that his side will have the destiny for sorted before the final game of the season when they make the trip to a Charlton Athletic side looking to return to the Championship at the first attempt.

“They are spending to try and get straight back up,” the Town boss added. “I just hope it is not a make or break game for us going there on the last day of the season.”
