WITH Corsham Centre Youth nailed on certainties to be crowned Division One champions the race for the second automatic promotion spot to the top flight is shaping up nicely.

All four teams in contention were in action on Thursday evening.

Bremhill View, who began the night in fourth place, two points and one place below their opponents Somerford in the table, finished it in second spot, thanks to a 3-1 win which, coupled Bath Road losing, has seen them move back in the race to claim a top-two finish.

Billy Gleed put Bremhill ahead and Robbie Burton had the chance to level for Somerford but missed from the penalty.

However he atoned for his miss by drawing the villagers level only for Gleed to fire home his second to regain the lead for Bremhill.

Kieron Gleed’s second-half effort wrapped up what was a vital win for Bremhill.

Bath Road, who started the night in second place, slipped down to third place after losing 6-4 at home to Pheasant FC.

Bath Road, who started the game with 10 players, were 3-0 down inside 20 minutes to a Richie Bolter hat-trick with Josh Legg providing the assist for all three goals.

However they managed to cut the deficit to the odd goal before half time with Matt White and Lee Grant following long throw-ins from Ryan Hopkins.

Joey Hylands made it 4-2 with a fine finish and Legg got his name on the score sheet after being set up by Rob Pocock.

Bath Road battled back once more with goals from Luke Carrington and Kieran Ingram getting them to within one goal.

However any hopes they may have had of getting a draw from the game disappeared when Hylands lashed home from 25 yards to seal Pheasant’s 6-4 win
