WHITE Horse, who upset the odds when they defeated defending first division champions Freshford United a fortnight ago, were just a few minutes away from throwing this season’s title race wide open.

Allan Clarke’s side led 1-0 away at Warminster Town Reserves but the league leaders scored two late goals to complete an incredible turnaround.

White Horse took a first-half lead after Paul Beavers broke clear and picked out Stuart Barber, who, after beating two defenders, finished well to put his team 1-0 up. Tom Foord got Warminster back on level terms in the 85th minute when he found the top corner after latching onto Craig Sheppard’s through ball and then in the 91st minute, Sheppard received the ball 35 yards out and thumped it into the net to seal another smash and grab raid to send the Weymouth Street faithful into raptures.

Having ended a poor run of form with a 4-2 win over Hilperton United last weekend, Aces were unable to build on that success as they suffered a 2-1 loss at home to Semington Magpies, whose win saw them leapfrog their opponents in the table.

Bobby Mitchell and Sam Malone scored in the first half for the Magpies and Phil Little replied for Aces in the second half.

Westbury United Reserves bought the curtain down on what has been a difficult season for Marc Lanfear’s side with a well-deserved 4-4 draw at home to title hopefuls Potterne, who had to come from 4-1 down to claim a share of the spoils.

Westbury led 1-0 at half-time courtesy of a Nick Taylor goal. Potterne drew level early in the second half when Kyle Davies was on hand to turn home the rebound after Wayne House had his penalty saved by Westbury stopper Frankie McEntegart.

Westbury then stunned their guests, who had beaten them 6-1 earlier this season, by regaining the lead via a second from Taylor and they then went 4-1 up through goals from Owen Adams and Marc Lanfear.

Kyle Davies started the Potterne fightback with his second of the game and Lee Himsworth cut the deficit to the odd goal when he scored from the penalty spot.

And with virtually the last kick off the game, Wayne House struck to ensure the spoils were shared.

Both teams finished the game with 10 players after Potterne had Himsworth sent off along with Westbury’s Kieron Plummer.
