WHEN the fixture list comes out in the summer, one of the first things you look for is when you have a rare Sunday off.

Of course, we have the Christmas break, but there aren’t too many times throughout the season when you have just one game at the weekend.

This weekend is one of those times. On Saturday we are playing Guildford Flames and then we haven’t got to worry about preparing for a game the following day.

Normally after the games on Saturday, you go home, get some rest and start to think about where you are going the next day.

Tomorrow, after the game, we can have a bit of downtime and get together for a bit of team bonding and have a few drinks.

At the moment there isn’t anything that is really planned, it will depend on how we get on against Guildford, so hopefully we can get the win and then go out in high spirits.

As well as looking for the rare Sundays off when the fixtures come out, you also look at when you are going to have tough weekends.

Next weekend we have got three games in three days, with trips to Basingstoke on the Friday and Milton Keynes on Saturday before returning to the Link Centre on the Sunday to play Basingstoke again.

Games against Basingstoke and Milton Keynes are hard enough, but when you have got three games in three days, that is going to be tough.

During the week you aren’t going to be doing that much extra. You are not going to be doing big gym sessions.

You know that you have got to prepare and rest properly. I think since I arrived at Swindon there has only been one other time we have played three games in three days.

It doesn’t happen all that often so it is not something that we are used too.

We regularly play two games over the weekend, so if we can manage our preparation and rest properly then it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

It will also help that the last of three games is at home. The fans at the Link Centre always give that extra lift.
