MARTIN Ling might be juggling his loan arrangement game to game currently, but he is prepared to increase the size of the problem.

Liverpool loanee Kevin Stewart is within sight of a return and the deals for Ben Gladwin and Louis Thompson are both set to expire this month.

However the Town boss would like to retain the services of both players, despite the fact that the five-man loan limit means he is currently juggling his selection. That would mean he has seven players for five places.

Even though he is struggling to decide his best combination of loanees, Ling insists he will not be simplifying his choices.

“Kevin Stewart is a couple of weeks away, which takes us up to seven loans,” the County Ground told the local media.

“Ben Gladwin and Louis Thompson are both up before then, but we’ll look to keep both of them if we possibly can.

“The problem I’ve got it is the situation was put on me and I’d say that all six would be in the squad and all six in the side sometimes but, I can’t do it.

“Wes (Thomas) has missed out (against Walsall). We’ll see with the situation with Louis (Thompson) as to whether he’s ok, if Louis is ok it may be Wes again (on Saturday) – I don’t know.

“It’s been unfortunate because we brought them in to cover injury and now they’re crossing over, you can’t win can you?”

However Ling hopes to address the problem in the January window, his first opportunity to make a mark on the squad, albeit at the whim of chairman Lee Power.

Without expanding on his plans for reducing the number of loanees, Ling offered assurances that he will be not in the same position by the time of the transfer window.

“There’s no point having players here you can’t pick because they’re six loans,” he added.

“We certainly won’t have too many loans come January.”
