CHIPPENHAM Town comfortably moved into the next round as they brushed aside Uxbridge this afternoo.

The Bluebirds forced three early corners, with keeper Paul McCarthy clawing away the third one before punching away James Guthrie's follow up shot.

On nine minutes, Andy Sandell's dipping free-kick just cleared the bar before at the other end, Dan Bailey's looping header from a corner was held by Kent Kauppinen.

Matt Smith volleyed wide on fourteen minutes before Chippenham took the lead a minute later.

Sandell's raking cross found Guthrie and his delivery was firmly headed home by Ashan Holgate for his first goal of the season.

Jon-Jo Bates headed over at an Uxbridge corner and then he squeezed between two Chippenham players but fired wildly over.

On 24 minutes, the Bluebirds lost Michael Pook to injury to be replaced by Ryan Campbell.

The young substitute soon made his mark on the game as his 25-yard shot was turned over the bar by McCarthy.

On 35 minutes, another flowing move involving Holgate, Sandell and Campbell ended with Guthrie shooting narrowly wide.

In the last minute of the half, Uxbridge vehemently claimed for a penalty after a tackle by Jon Beeden on Bates but all they got was a corner.

Chippenham doubled their lead five minutes after the interval when Guthrie's free-kick found the unmarked Ferguson and he planted a header past McCarthy.

Ferguson then had a shot blocked whilst Sandell's selfless lay off to Holgate saw the latter skew his shot wide.

Campbell just failed with a measured shot following a clearance at a corner but Chippenham made the game safe seven minutes from time when a mistake from McCarthy saw him give the ball away whilst out of position and nd despite attempts by a defender on the line, striker, Sandell fired home.

Five minutes from time Kauppinen denied substitute Anthony O'Connor a consolation goal with a fine diving save.
