A GOAL in each half sent Calne Town into the first round proper after a 2-0 victory on the road at Romsey Town.

Stuart Windsor broke the deadlock for Neurin Jones' side after half-an-hour before Aaron Hopkins struck midway through the second period to seal Calne's progress.

The victory continues Calne's revival after a slow start to the season, having won three and drawn one of their last five matches.

Boss Jones said: "I am absolutely chuffed. It was a really great result.

"It was a two-hour coach journey down and we started quite slowly but after that we were brilliant.

"In the second half in particular we played really well and had quite a few chances and it could easily have been an even bigger scoreline.

"We know we have played better than our results suggest so far this season.

"Two of the games we lost we were abysmal but in all the rest we should have got more.

"The changing room is buzzing, and it has been all season, to be fair.

"We know we have got some quality players here and when we are on it we are a match for anyone.

"It's about having that consistency for two games in a row and luckily we've been able to find that in the last few weeks."

Calne are in action in another cup competition this weekend as they host Pewsey Vale in the Wiltshire Senior Cup.
