TYRONE Mings says that he’s ready play scholar after sealing his sensational move to the Premier League – just two-and-a-half years after he was playing six levels lower for Chippenham Town.

The 22-year-old left-back, from Chippenham, has signed for newly-promoted Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth from Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee, believed to be worth up to £8 million.

Mings, who joined Ipswich from the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division Bluebirds in December 2012 for a reported fee of £10,000, can now look forward to sharing a pitch with some of the game’s biggest mega-stars and the defender says that he’s ready to develop under Cherries chief Eddie Howe.

“I’m looking forward to learning from the manager’s ideas,” Mings told Bournemouth’s official website.

“I’m here to develop and learn as much as possible.”

“(Bournemouth’s) style was different to anyone else’s in the league. That probably goes back to how in-depth the manager is with everything he does and the group of players he has.

“They can pull off what he wants them to do – they are well organised and play good football, as everyone saw last season.

“To learn off Eddie and Jason (Tindall, assistant manager) though is something I’m really looking forward to.”

Delighted Bournemouth boss Howe paid tribute to the potential of the former Chippenham man, who has previously been linked with moves to giants Chelsea and Arsenal.

Howe said: “We are signing a player of huge potential. He’s a good age as well and I think there’s a lot of scope for him to improve.

“He’s been linked with Premier League clubs for a long time now and is very highly regarded for his performances for Ipswich.

“Albeit for a short period of time; he has shown great promise.

“He fits the mould we are looking for – young, progressive, ambitious and wants to improve.

“Hopefully it will be a successful period for us coming up and he can be a big part of that.”
