MARK Cooper’s future at Swindon Town may still be up in the air but bookmakers BetVictor have already installed Brian McDermott as joint favourite to take over at the County Ground.
The Adver understand that no agreement has yet been reached between Sheffield Wednesday and Cooper, with sources close to the current Town boss confirming that nothing has been signed.
However, Cooper is still in advanced negotiations over a position at Hillsborough and bookies have started offering odds on his successor at Swindon.
Former Reading and Leeds manager McDermott is joined by former Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson, who parted company with the League One club following a 3-0 defeat to MK Dons in February, as the favourite to replace him.
The pair have both been priced as 4-1 to take over as Town’s next boss, with Ian Holloway, James Beattie and Paul Tisdale behind them at odds of 6-1.
Other notable names who are said to be in the running include former Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock and former Town players Dave Hockaday and Paul Ince.
However, it is strongly rumoured that current first-team coach Luke Williams would be given the chance to prove himself at the helm.
