IT WAS another successful Bank Holiday weekend for the Neighbour family of Swindon Cycle Speedway Club as both Alice and Jake made the podium in two different individual open events across the country.

Alice won the junior girls’ individual in greater Manchester on Saturday to add to her British Girls success last year, while also holding her own when competing in the Women’s Laurels event in Poole on the Sunday.

Meanwhile, her older brother Jake came a creditable tenth in a senior event in greater Manchester but, more importantly, came third in the biggest individual event outside the British and World Championships in the Youth Category at Poole on Sunday.

But for a costly slip in his first ride he could easily have won the event but this sets him up well as the World Championships are being held in Wolverhampton this July, with a result like this giving him momentum.

Swindon CSC train every Wednesday night from 6pm between March and September and caters for all ages and abilities.
