HARRY Toffolo has said that he would be open to a return to Swindon Town next season but is yet to discuss his future.

The 19-year-old defender joined on loan from Norwich last October and has impressed many Town fans on and off the pitch.

His parent club have taken the option to extend his contract at Carrow Road by an extra year but, after the Canaries gained promotion back to the Premier League with their play-off final victory over Middlesborough on Bank Holiday Monday, Toffolo’s future is up in the air.

When asked if he would be keen on a return to Swindon, he told the Advertiser: “Yeah, definitely.

“It is one of those things you have to evaluate and I will have a meeting with the gaffer at Norwich (Alex Neil) and other representatives and I will see where they see my future.

“There is nothing really set in stone at the moment. There are obviously talks going ahead, but there is nothing where I can say it is happening or it is not.

“I would never rule out a return to Swindon. You want to make progress because if you are playing at the top of League One, you want to make the progression to the Championship.”

Toffolo has come a long way from the starry-eyed youngster who walked into the press conference following his first full debut at home to Preston.

Now Toffolo is hoping to build on his experiences and come back stronger for them next year, whether that is in a Town shirt or for another side.

“It seems like ages ago since I made my debut for Town,” added the 19-year-old.

“I have changed massively. I have gone from playing Under 21s football, where it doesn’t mean as much as professional football, to getting to Wembley and playing in a play-off final and the whole build up to that in my first season.

“To go away to the likes of Peterborough and get called all the names under the sun on the sideline. You wouldn’t normally get that from the parents at Under 21 level.

“Every single game I played was a new experience for me and I couldn’t thank Swindon more for the opportunity.

“As I was saying bye to everyone at Wembley, I choked up a bit because as a group of individuals, you are never going to be together in the same team again.

“I said thanks to Lee Power for everything that he has done for me and Mark Cooper and Luke Williams.

“They have done absolutely everything for me and made me settle in very nicely and I have really enjoyed my time at Swindon.”
