SWINDON Robins star Nick Morris feels he is in the form of his life after turning in another exceptional showing at Blunsdon last week.

Young Australian Morris claimed three heat wins from five rides against Leicester Lions last Thursday, with his 11-point haul overall helping the Robins to an impressive 50-40 victory.

That was just the latest in a string of exceptional performances from Morris in the fledgling Elite League campaign.

Robins’ team boss Alun Rossiter labelled Morris as ‘unbeatable’ at the Abbey Stadium in the wake of their taming of the Lions, and the 20-year admits things could not be going better right now.

“It’s still early days but I am happy with how everything is going,” said Morris, who is now in his fourth season with the Robins.

“I actually didn’t feel that great on Thursday, I’d been off the bike a week and the track felt a bit different.

“I just didn’t feel that comfortable but I did alright and the team got a win so I’ve got to be happy with that.

“If I can put my head to it, which I feel like I have been doing this year, then I feel like I can beat anyone.

“I’ve been doing it here at Blunsdon, so I just need to do it everywhere else and keep progressing.

“I’m getting older and learning every year. I got comfortable with everything last year but now I want to keep going up and up, I don’t want to stay where I am at.

“I’ve got to keep motivated and want it more.”

Swindon had to recover from a slow start against Leicester, with the visitors winning the opening three races of the night.

However, once Rossiter’s men found their form it was virtually one-way traffic and the final scoreline did not flatter them in the slightest.

The Robins were returning to the track for the first time in 10 days following a narrow defeat at Belle Vue and Morris reckons that was a factor in them being slow out of the traps.

“They stuck it to us early on but then we fought back and everyone rode pretty good in the end,” said Morris.

“It was a pretty big gap between meetings, especially when we had been riding two or three times in a row. That’s when you feel real good and everything is loose and you don’t really have to think about anything.

“But we’ve got that one out of the way now and we’ll just look to move onto the next one.”

That will come around swiftly for Swindon as they entertain early Elite League leaders Coventry Bees on Tuesday, a fixture televised live on Sky Sports.

The Robins will be without Denmark’s Peter Kildemand for the meet, who has filled their number one spot in the absence of the injured Adrian Miedzinski.

Pole Miedzinski may be fit to make his Swindon comeback at the Abbey, but if not a guest will be booked in his place.

Whoever ends up occupying the number one spot, Morris is not expecting an easy ride against the high-flying Bees.

“It’s not going to be easy, Coventry are a good team and have been picking up points everywhere,” said Morris.

“It sucks we don’t have Kildemand again and I’m not sure if we are getting a guest in yet but we will do what we can and I am sure we’ll battle on and hopefully get the win.”
