OSSIE Ardiles has backed Mark Cooper and his Class of 2015 to emulate his play-off success of 1990.

Swindon Town bring the curtain down on their League One campaign tomorrow with a visit from Leyton Orient before heading into the end of season lottery next Thursday.

And while the former Town chief believes that Cooper and his young guns can secure a place in the Championship, he says that they need to go into the play-offs with some momentum.

Ardiles' Swindon headed into their play-off semi-final with Blackburn Rovers, a tie they won 4-2 on aggregate, unbeaten in their last four matches of the campaign before beating Sunderland at Wembley 1-0 in the final.

Town head into tomorrow's game without a win in their last four matches and only two in eight games in April.

"They had a very good start to the season and they are in a bit of a dip at the moment." the 1978 World Cup winner told the Advertiser.

"It is so important to go into those games with a bit of form."

Despite the lack of form from Cooper's Town at present, the Argentine said belief is key to any success that they might have.

Ardiles had to deal with a tax fraud conspiracy which saw his captain Colin Calderwood arrested, and later released without charge, in the build up to his play-off.

But he remained focused on the job at hand and led Town into the top flight, before demotion for financial irregularities.

"Of course, Swindon can win the play-offs," Ardiles said.

"Anything can happen in the play-offs - they have just got to believe in themselves.

"If I could give Mark Cooper and his players any advice, it is to believe in yourself; believe in what you are doing."
