A HOST of clubs are monitoring the future of Wes Foderingham and a race for the Swindon Town goalkeeper’s signature could spark into life this summer.

This week, a national tabloid reported that the 24-year-old stopper was garnering admiring glances from Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest and the Advertiser understands that Foderingham is piquing the interest of an even wider range of prospective suitors.

The Town goalie, who has enjoyed a sparkling season between the sticks, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Foderingham, who joined Swindon on a permanent basis from Crystal Palace in January 2012, has made no secret of his desire to make the step up to the Championship next term and talks with a view to any potential new deal to keep him at the County Ground have been put on hold until the resolution of Swindon’s play-off campaign.

The Town goalkeeper’s stance on a new deal hasn’t changed throughout the season.

Speaking in November last year, he said: “I’ve always said I’d like to try and play at the highest level possible, so if we get promoted, then that’s another level up. So we’ll look at it if that happens.

“That’s not me saying that if we don’t go up I’m not going to stay - I’m not saying that.

“It’s a club that’s obviously close to my heart now and always will be.”

Meanwhile, Town will have to make a decision on the future of Nathan Byrne come the season’s end.

Like Foderingham, the 22-year-old wing-back, who was named in the PFA League One team of the year, also comes to the end of his current deal at the conclusion of the season but Swindon have the option of a one-year extension, which has yet to be exercised.
