MARK Cooper has promised that Swindon Town will go for the jugular once they hit the League One play-offs next week.

Town bring the curtain down on their regular season on Sunday Leyton Orient visit the County Ground.

However, focus has already been on the play-offs for several weeks, with Town having secured their place with a 4-2 win at Rochdale on April 14.

Sheffield United and Chesterfield go head-to-head at Bramall Lane this weekend for the right to face Swindon in the post-season and Cooper says the policy will be the same whoever the play.

Town have won plenty of plaudits for their style of play in 2014-15 and Cooper has no plans to start stifling his troops now.

Cooper told the local media: “I think they know that they’ve got two-legs to go for it.

“If a team, in a three-game season or a two-game season to get to Wembley, sits back and then still gets beat, I don’t think you would forgive yourself.

“I certainly won’t be doing that. We’ll be going for it.

“Whatever happens in the play-offs - we are going to go for it and we’re going to play and attack, so we certainly won’t be sitting back and hoping for a 1-0 win - we’ll be going for it from the start.”

Town several injury worries ahead of the clash against the Os, with Nathan Thompson, Wes Foderingham, Massimo Luongo, Harry Toffolo and Jon Obika all doubtful to play.

Cooper received plenty of flak for fielding a weakened side in the 3-0 loss at Preston with the play-offs in mind, and is remaining guarded over his selection this weekend.

“I haven’t finalised it yet. I’ve got to be careful with what I say because of the amount of complaints that we’ve had from other teams and managers,” added Cooper.

“I won’t be divulging the team until 11.15am on Sunday. There will be players playing that will be involved in the play-off squad.”
