SWINDON Town boss Mark Cooper has said that several of his squad are facing late fitness tests ahead of Sunday’s clash with Leyton Orient.

As Town bring the curtain down on their regular campaign, the County Ground chief told the local media this morning that Harry Toffolo, Massimo Luongo, skipper Nathan Thompson, keeper Wes Foderingham and striker Jon Obika are all carrying injuries.

With the play-offs set to go into full swing next week, Cooper says that he is not willing to risk having an under-strength squad in the end-of-season lottery

"Toffolo has a dead leg and won't be available, Massimo has twisted his ankle and won't be available, Nathan Thompson has a kick on his foot and is very sore, Wes Foderingham has a sore hip and Jon Obika has a slight muscle strain in his back," Cooper told the local press.

"If there is any risk then they won't play.

"At this moment we think they should be fine (for the play-offs).

"Harry (Toffolo) was struggling at half-time (in the draw with Colchester) and he wanted to give it five minutes, but he was nowhere near so it's quite a bad dead leg.

"I don't think it would stop him playing next Thursday.

"Nathan Thompson is an impact injury, he just kicked the bottom of somebody's studs so he's 50-50 for Sunday.

"Massimo (Luongo) twisted his ankle and it's a sprain. If there is any doubt then we won't take any risk with him. It's a sprain but I don't think it's going to be a problem.

"Wes' (Foderingham) hip is ongoing and with the grounds being hard we don't want him diving on it too much.

"Jon Obika has got a muscle spasm in his back so we're just waiting for that to release. He should be okay, hopefully, for the weekend."

The Swindon Advertiser was not permitted to attend this morning’s press conference.
