CLARRIE Dunbar's men ensured their 30th anniversary celebrations went off with a bang as they clinched the Wessex League title on their home rink on Sunday.

The 2009 and 2013 champions were up against the 2011 and reigning champions Exonia, from Exeter, but triumphed 88-68 to regain the crown.

The match started with Clarrie cruising ahead 29-9 after five ends, but the lead was dramatically reduced to just three shots after 10, as Exonia bounced back to 40-37.

The match was won over the next five ends as the Clarrie rink skipped by England international Graham Shadwell picked up 16 shots with no reply, with the other three rinks evenly balanced, giving Clarrie a 15-shot lead (71-56 after 15 ends).

The final ends saw Clarrie, skippered by Andy Colebrooke, making further gains to eventually secured their 20-shot success.
