It has been a long three years but Hampshire are finally back where I feel they belong, in Division One.

You look at the club and the players we have got we should be in this division.

We've got a good set up and good coaching staff and we are a club that belongs in this league.

We have shown already this season that we can play there and compete there and I think we will be fine this season.

As a club, in one day cricket, we are aiming to get to the knock-out stages of the one day competitions, which we have been very good at in the last sort of six years.

In the Championship we want to be competitive and hopefully come August time we are safe, and if we are fourth or fifth come then, anything can happen.

We've got West Indian fast bowler Fidel Edwards coming in earlier than planned because Australian Jackson Bird is going home injured.

That is a bit of a blow that he hasn't been available but we have a good group of lads and boys that will fight all the way through the season.

I personally just want to do what I have done for most years and contribute to the team by scoring runs, taking wickets and taking catches, which I have been very consistent at in recent years.

It has been a frustrating start for me, I think it is three out of five innings that I have got myself in but not converted them.

I have done that a lot in my career and that is something I have to rectify and from those starts go on to get hundreds and that is probably my personal goal for the summer.

We've done alright after the first couple of games back in Division One.

We played well against Sussex but we had a bad 30 minutes where we lost five wickets in no time and that sort of cost us that game and that is the margins in this league.

If you slip up in Division One the other teams are going to jump right on you and nail you.

At Edgbaston we dominated the game for four days but unfortunately we couldn't bowl them out on the last day, but we played some good cricket.

Today we are up against it, going into the final day against Notts we are going to have to bat the day to get the draw.

But it is tough games like this that make it great to be back in this league and competing against the best.
