ETCHILHAMPTON’S Tommy Bridewell sits seventh in the British Superbike Championship following the second round of the season at Brands Hatch.

Bridewell made a good start in the first race was up to 10th when the safety car was deployed. After it pulled in Bridewell made his way up to seventh by lap 16 but unfortunately on lap 22 he slid off his machine, but walked away unhurt.

Meanwhile, Victor Cox had made his way up to 19th from 28th on the grid, with the race won by James Ellison.

Bridewell started his second race from seventh on the grid and was able to move up a place before the chequered flag. Ellison not only won this second race, but set a new lap record in of 45.21 seconds.

In the Hyundai Heavy Industries British F1 Sidecar Championship, Marlborough’s Roger Lovelock claimed a second-place finish in the first race Lovelock and passenger Aki Aalto challenged leader Andy Peach early on but a huge oil spill caused havoc on the track and a restart was ordered.

Before the race could finish, time overtook proceedings and a result was declared, meaning half points were awarded with Lovelock remaining in second place.

Lovelock did not feature so prominently in race two and came home fifth as Ricky Stevens claimed victory.
