NAPPIES made from bamboo and a barrow designed to reduce injuries on building sites are among the finalists in the Biggart Baillie Innovation Awards.
Inventors from across Lanarkshire have been picked from hundreds of hopefuls to be in line for honours at the finals next week.
Among the West of Scotland contenders, Jacqueline Morrison from East Kilbride has been shortlisted for the Top Female Innovator Award with her uniquely designed bamboo velour nappies.
Jacqueline recently won Business Gateway Lanarkshire's Best Business Idea Award, a competition backed by Dragons' Den star Duncan Bannatyne.
In the open category Paul Sommerville, also from East Kilbride will go head to head with Eric Williamson.
Paul has developed a baby alarm to help reduce cot deaths while Eric, from Glenmavis, Airdrie, has designed an easy-to-manoeuvre barrow for the construction industry, with the aim of reducing back strain.
Winners in three categories will be given £1000 plus a valuable Intellectual property audit, to help with their business prototypes. They will be announced on February 22.
