JORDAN Turnbull is hoping the County Ground fans can be the 12th man this Saturday, as Swindon Town prepare to take on MK Dons.

Fresh from making his debut for England Under 20s, Turnbull returns to Swindon as they prepare for a pair of season defining fixtures against Karl Robinson’s Dons this weekend and Bristol City next Tuesday.

The young defender, from Trowbridge, has enjoyed a great first season playing first-team football, having joined on loan from Southampton at the start of the campaign. Over recent weeks he has been Town’s most reliable defender, barely putting a foot wrong.

Turnbull has enjoyed the experience of playing at the County Ground and talked previously about the positive effects of the crowd on the team.

With the Advertiser’s Get the County Ground Rocking campaign to be in full swing for Saturday’s big clash with MK Dons, Turnbull described the fans as a 12th man and called on them to stick with the team as they bid for promotion.

“It’s so important have the backing from the stands,” he told the Advertiser.

“I think they fans have been excellent all season so far, we’re coming up to the end of the season now, we’d love that continued support and hopefully they can get behind us.

“Sometimes at home they count as a 12th man, they really do. All the support counts and I hope we can go out get the win for them.

“All the support helps us, we know the crowd are going to be a bit frustrated sometimes but we want them to stick with us until the end of the season.

“I’d just like to say, keep with us and we’re going to carry on and hopefully get promoted. Sometimes they’ve got to stick with us. The way we’ve been playing so far has got us to where we are now.

“MK Dons is going to be a massive game, a top-of-the- table clash. I think we’re coming to the end of the season now and these big games count, every game counts.

“Straight after that we’ve got Bristol City away, so we’ve got a big couple of weeks coming up. So we need to go out and perform to win those games.”
