A 4-1 VICTORY for Potterne FC at FC Box Steam Brewery confirmed Craig Campbell’s village side as champions.

Defeat for Phil Webb’s Brewery boys’ who were the only team who could deny Potterne the title means that they finish their first campaign as the division’s runners up.

For Campbell’s men, their title success gave them the first part of a possible double as they will look to add the Knockout Cup to the third division trophy when they face second division White Horse FC at Warminster Town FC on Thursday, April 16.

In an evenly-contested first half a Tom Lye goal gave Potterne a 1-0 lead.

Gavin Francis restored parity for the Brewery Boys early in the second period an for a while it looked as if they may give their visitors to St Mary’s Steeple Ashton a tough time, but once Ashley Huntley regained the lead for Potterne they always seemed to have the edge over their guests.

A second from Lye which was the villagers' 100th goal of the campaign gave them some much needed breathing space and when Wayne House struck his 18th on the season it was game over for the Brewery boys and the title was heading to Potterne, who will collect the winners trophy after next week's final game of the season at home to FC Trowbridge.
