DESPITE reports of a move away from England, with Swindon Town reportedly turning down a £1.9 million bid from an unnamed Turkish club, believed to Besiktas, Massimo Luongo has said he sees his future in England.

Reports of a bid for Luongo came to light yesterday evening after the 22-year-old’s mentor, David Magrone, earlier this week told Australian press of interest in the Town midfielder from a number of continental clubs, including 13-time Süper Lig champions Besiktas and La Liga giants Sevilla.

However Luongo told goal.com/au earlier this month, before any reported bids, that he sees his immediate future in English football and not on the continent.

"It's not ideal, it's not something I'm looking forward to," said the Town man when asked about a move to Europe.

"I've always wanted to play in England and I am. I'm quite comfortable there. If a silly offer came in from a nice team, it's hard to turn down, but it's not really my goal, to go to Europe."

It is understood that any sale of Luongo would be balanced against the potential financial benefits of promotion to Championship, which Town value at around £6 million.

With Tottenham’s sell-on clause for Luongo giving them 40 per cent of the profit from his sale, it would take significantly more than £1.9 million to justify the sale of the Aussie with promotion at stake.
