AFTER a week of long plane journeys, Massimo Luongo enjoyed a little bit more time sat down as he watched the first half of Town’s victory at London Road from the bench.

The Australian international was rested by boss Mark Cooper after a returning from playing for his country in Japan. Luongo did eventually come on, replacing housemate Ben Gladwin on the hour.

Having arrived back in England on Wednesday, the Town midfielder was grateful for the break, admitting that he struggled when thrown straight back into the action after the last international break.

“They say it takes a few days to get over it, so I should be alright by Monday,” said the 22-year-old.

“It is difficult. Last time when I went away, I did feel the effects of it when I came back and we were going through a Saturday-Tuesday frenzy for a little while.

“This time I’m quite lucky we’ve got a few Saturday-Saturdays, which will probably will help me out a little bit.

“It was a tough second half. We didn’t really get the ball down and keep it too well. They came out searching for the goal. It’s a hard balance to find.

“The boys defended well until the last goal, where I personally could have done something a little bit better - me, Byrnie (Nathan Byrne) and Raf (Branco).

“The boys were class in (the opening half). Peterborough gave us a bit of respect, dropped off a little bit, and pressed whenever we played the ball in midfield. We figured out a way to counter that.

“The goal was good example. We attacked, the ball came out, we got it again and we threatened two or three times before we scored, so it’s positive. We looked good.”
