TOWN boss Mark Cooper thought his team created the chances to get the win against Yeovil, despite Nathan Thompson's late dismissal.

After a first half, where Swindon struggled to get to grips with Gary Johnson's side, as the hosts pressed the Robins high up the pitch, Town found their rhythm in the second period.

Andy Williams' leveller looked to have set the platform for a late push for a clincher. Then Nathan Thompson's red card threatened to put diesel in the petrol tank but Town motored on regardless.

Much like at Crawley, a tactical rejig did not bring about a more defensive outlook. Cooper's side pressed on in search of all three points with 10 men and after the game the Town boss thought his side unlucky not have got them.

"If we’d kept 11 men we probably would have won," he said.

"Still with 10 men we kept creating chances, with Nathan Byrne, Andy Williams, Ben Gladwin and Michael Smith – I felt we were unfortunate not to win at the end.

"There’s a lot of versatility in the team. Louis slotted in (at the back) and you could have thought it was his brother. Even with 10 men I thought we were outstanding, we created loads of chances and I’m gutted we didn’t sneak one at the end."

The dismissal off his captain was harsh for Cooper's eyes but he conceded Thompson does have to improve his disciplinary record.

"I thought Nathan was running towards the corner flag and their boy’s put his hands on his back and it’s contact. If you do that it’s a foul, some of the decisions were flabbergasting to say the least," he added.

"Nathan has to realise he can’t keep getting booked or sent off because he misses too many games and he’s far too important for us."
