Yeovil Town v Swindon Town

Swindon play the last of their five successive away games on Saturday. The first three games resulted in victories for Town with a win in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, 2-1 over Newport County. This was followed by two more wins in the league over Barnsley and Leyton Orient and six points on the road. The boys had a bit of a wake-up call last time out where they found themselves 3-0 down before half time. The first half performance at Plymouth in the second round of the JPT was not one that we have become used to over the early stages of this season. Yet the second half, Swindon showed what they were capable of. They made a spirited fight and brought the game bake to 3-2, and then in the dying minutes we hit the post, when it should have been easier to score. The chance to take the tie to penalties went begging as the ref brought the game to a close, much to the relief of the Plymouth faithful.

Swindon are at Huish Park to take on Yeovil and a chance for Andy Williams to score against his former club. Williams was loaned out to Yeovil last season and is in good company of strikers going to Somerset on loan. Rory Fallon went there on loan in 2000. Don Rogers also had a spell on loan with Yeovil from November 1976 to January 1977.

Swindon are unbeaten in their last eight league games, wining five and drawing three. Yeovil, on the other hand have lost only won two of their last eight games, drawn two and lost four. Where we have won our last three league games, Yeovil have lost theirs.

A Town win is imperative if we want to stay in touch at the top of the League. We need to beat teams in the lower half of the table, something we have failed to do in recent seasons. League leaders Bristol City are away to Coventry and could slip up at the Ricoh, which would be their first defeat of the season. Peterborough are at home to Barnsley, so expect a home win there. MK Dons are away to our last opponents, Leyton Orient, and I expect the Dons to pick up all three points.

Swindon will need to get something from the game against Yeovil and I expect them to win with Andy Williams getting a brace with Michael Smith netting the third. Bring It On.
