SWINDON Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge was pleased with his sides clinical display as they beat Telford Tigers 4-0 last night.

Cats roared back to winning ways after a Tomasz Malasinski hat-trick secured them a third win on the road this season.

After a goalless first period a quick-fire double from Malasinski added to the opener from newly appointed captain Jan Kostal to put the visitors in a commanding position.

The hosts, who were without five players from their original roster, pushed in the third period for a way back into the game but Malasinski secured his first triple of the season with just a minute left on the clock.

“I think we had a game plan that seemed to work tonight,” said Aldridge.

“I watched Telford on Saturday and felt there certain areas that we needed put pucks and it seemed to work well for us.

“I thought our boys came out flying right from the start so I am happy with that.

“When we take care of our defence we’re going to get good offence.

“I thought we were outstanding in the offensive zone and we took our chances when they came and Tomasz scored some very nice goals tonight.”

It looked like Wildcats started where they left off at Sheffield, creating plenty of chances in the first period but they could not find a way past former Wildcats stopper Thomas Murdy.

The breakthrough came for the visitors in the 23rd minute when Henri Sandvik was able to intercept and leave Wildcats with a three-on-one situation, He charged at the net but saw his shot blocked, however, skipper Kostal was on hand to prod the puck home at the far corner.

Following the goal Lyle’s net came under some serious pressure but that was eased on 33 minutes when Malasinski caught Telford on the break and fired home from wide on the right.

The Pole then doubled his tally for the evening just two minutes later when, during a power play, Aaron Nell set him up to send the Wildcats into the second break with a three-goal cushion.

Swindon secured the win a minute from time when they made the most of a five-on-three power play as Harding set up Malasinski for his third of his game and Aldridge was full of praise for the 28-year-old.

“The biggest thing I keep saying to Tomasz is what he does off the puck is outstanding,” Aldridge said.

“Tonight he really showed what he can do on the puck.

“I think it is good confidence for him to get the hat-trick and I think the boys are very happy in the locker room.”
