TREVOR Rawlings reckons that his high-flying Corsham Town side hit top form for the first time this term in last weekend’s win at Hengrove Athletic.

Corsham currently sit third in the Toolstation League First Division table after goals from Nick Holton and Matt Jenkins, either side of a fortunate Hengrove equaliser, helped them notch up their eighth win of the season.

But Rawlings says that his team have only been at their best for short spells this season but thinks that Saturday’s second-half performance was Corsham’s most impressive snippet of the season so far.

“I’ve said it before – we haven’t actually played that well so far this season. It’s all been in little patches,” said the Southbank boss.

“We’ve not been playing as well as we can do but we’ve still been picking up results, so that’s been pretty pleasing.

“I’d say that the second 45 minutes on Saturday was the first time that we've really clicked for a long time.

“They’d got an equaliser through a fluke cross that’s gone into the net and we could have easily crumbled because there were only ten minutes to go.

“But we put the pressure on and won a bunch of corners in a row before Matty Jenkins crashed one home with a bullet header.”

Corsham go looking to notch up a third win a row next weekend when they make the trip to Welton Rovers.

Rawlings revealed that the club have made a bid to bring midfielder Dan Lardner back to Corsham, submitting a seven-day approach to Devizes Town.
