YASER Kasim’s fifth booking of the season and consequent suspension earned him the ire of Mark Cooper.

The Iraqi was booked for a rash challenge in the first half of the win over Sheffield United and now misses the trip to Wales for Town’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash with League Two Newport tomorrow.

Cooper wouldn’t be drawn on whether Kasim’s suspension was a well-timed one, coming in a fixture with a lower league side, but made it clear his midfield metronome would be reminded to watch his discipline.

“He shouldn’t be getting five bookings and I said to the chaps before we went out, no tackles,” Cooper explained.

“You don't need to tackle, you don't need to give them an opportunity to stick the ball into our box. He makes a tackle early on, gets booked and they get an opportunity to stick the ball in our box.

“I'm disappointed – a rap on the knuckles for Yaser and he misses one game.”

With Kasim ruled out, Jake Reeves could be in line for his first start for Swindon.

Cooper has been impressed by the brief glimpses so far including his performance in the last 20 minutes against Sheffield United.

“He’s a tidy little player. We wouldn’t have taken him if he couldn’t play football,” the Town boss added.

“He’s going to be fine, he’s a good acquisition for us.”

Jack Stephens will also be missing for the Newport game but he was back in training on Saturday and could be in contention for the trip to Barnsley this coming weekend.
