WES Foderingham admits that he had to find his composure to produce a man-of-the-match display at Bradford City after a penalty decision left him fuming.

The 23-year-old stopper was adjudged by referee Richard Clark, the official who sent off Troy Archibald-Henville and Nathan Thompson at Notts County last April, to have brought down Bantams striker Billy Clarke in the third minute.

But the former Crystal Palace custodian saved Alan Sheehan’s penalty before producing several superb saves to ensure that Jon Obika’s debut double, following a Louis Thompson own goal, was enough to send Swindon home with a 2-1 victory.

“I won’t lie I was fuming when he gave the penalty,” Foderingham told the Advertiser after the game.

“He (the referee) got it wrong, there is no two ways about it. It was a good challenge, I got 100 per cent of the ball and I’m sure that when he watches it back he will agree.

“But you have to stay calm, you have got a job to do and there is still a chance that you can keep the ball out of the net and thankfully I was able to do that.

“I had a few saves to make at the end - I was just happy that I could be there for the boys.”

Town boss Mark Cooper was pleased with some of the quality of football that his side produced at Bradford.

Swindon had to withstand an immense amount of pressure at the end at Valley Parade as the hosts finished the game with 10 men after Sheehan was sent off for striking Raphael Branco.

“Some of the football was very good again,” Cooper said. “The link play, the interplay to get people in behind their midfield and running at the back four was outstanding again.

“We probably had an half-hour spell before half-time and just after where we played some really, really good stuff, but probably not long enough to dominate a game.

“But give Bradford a bit of credit, they are a fit, strong side and they will cause lots of teams problems.”

Cooper hopes to have Jack Stephens available for tomorrow night’s visit of Oldham Athletic after the on-loan defender missed Saturday’s trip with tonsilitis.
