SWINDON Town boss Mark Cooper felt that his side should have been out of sight by the hour mark at Bradford City this afternoon.

The County Ground men came from a goal down to beat the Bantams 2-1 with a debut brace from Jon Obika.

Swindon also saw Wes Foderingham save an Alan Sheehan penalty, while the City midfielder was dismissed in injury time for striking Raphael Branco.

And the Town chief was pleased with how his team performed at Valley Parade.

He said: “The game should have been probably after an hour with the chances that we have had.

“After half-time we should have been more comfortable than it was, we shouldn’t have to be hanging on at the end which we were and that is what happens when you miss your chances.

“You know that the other teams are going to have a spell where they are going to stick everything in your box and ask questions of your goalkeeper and he has pulled a couple of brilliant saves off.”

However, Town endured a terrible start in west Yorkshire as the spot-kick came after only three minutes, while Louis Thompson’s own goal went in seven minutes later.

“Let’s give Bradford a bit of credit because they tried to stop us playing out and played three up against our three and press from the front and they did very well.

“We managed to hang in there. We conceded a rubbish goal and Wes saved a penalty which was never a penalty.”

Cooper was also pleased to see his new signing from Tottenham Hotspur instantly make an impression at the club.

“It always nice when a new striker comes to the club and gets off the mark with a couple of goals,” Cooper said.

“I thought him, Michael Smith, and Willo (a second half substitute) looked a threat all afternoon and it will give Jon a bit of confidence.”
