JON Obika made it a day to remember at Bradford City as Swindon Town fought back from a goal down to win in west Yorkshire.

The former Spurs striker, who is thought to have signed for a fee in the region of £200,000 on transfer deadline day, justified his price tag with a first half double at Valley Parade.

However, Swindon endured a horrible start which saw Wes Foderingham have to save a third minute penalty before Louis Thompson turned the ball into his own net in the 10th minute.

There was also drama in injury time when Alan Sheehan was dismissed for appearing to strike Raphael Branco After not playing since August 30, Swindon Town’s side has been given a fresh new look with a busy transfer deadline day.

Town chief Mark Cooper brought back striker Obika in a two-year deal from Tottenham Hotspur, while Jack Stephens returned on loan until January from Southampton.

While midfielder Louis Thompson who signed for Championship side Norwich City on September 1 before being loaned back to the club, while Nathan Thompson returned from suspension to skipper the side.

Both Obika and Thompson were handed starts at Bradford this afternoon, while Stephens was forced to miss out due to a bout of tonsillitis.

With Obika in the side, Andy Williams had to settle for a place on the bench at Valley Parade with Michael Smith fit again following his shoulder injury that forced his late withdrawal against Coventry City in the last game.

It was a dreadful start from Town at Valley Parade with the defence looking incredibly shaky and Bradford seemed hell bent on exploiting that.

The hosts were awarded a dubious penalty in the third minute when Wes Foderingham slipped trying to retrieve a soft back pass from Jordan Turnbull, who himself had slipped, and was adjudged to have brought down Billy Clarke.

Referee Richard Clark had no hesitation in pointing to the spot, however, Foderingham chose the right option and palmed away Sheehan's penalty.

Bradford continue to pile on the pressure and they took in the lead in the 10th minute when Louis Thompson turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Jason Kennedy.

Swindon took their time in getting back into this match and on 17 minutes Yaser Kasim came close to levelling the scores when his free-kick was superbly pushed away by Bantams keeper Jordan Pickford.

The equaliser came six minutes later when a Brad Smith corner found Michael Smith at the back post and his header found Obika to head home his first Town goal.

The former Tottenham striker, who was on loan at the County Ground in 2011, doubled his tally two minutes before the break when a Nathan Byrne corner was only half cleared and the hitman pounced to drill Town into the lead.

Town continued to maintain their control of the match in the second half but had to really wait until just after the hour mark to really threaten the Bradford goal when Raphael Branco headed over from a Byrne corner.

Bradford should have drawn level on 68 minutes when the ball broke loose to Kennedy in the Town box, but he drilled his shot well over.

The hosts thought they had drawn level 12 minutes from time when they bundled the ball over the live but the goal was disallowed for offside.

But Town held on to secure a good three points at the Valley Parade despite a late free-kick from Sheehan that was superbly saved by Foderingham, before the midfielder fired just wide a minute later.
