SWINDON Town have confirmed the signing of Jonathan Obika from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.

Obika was pictured at the County Ground this morning having talks and the club have confirmed a deal this afternoon. The fee is thought to be in the region of £200,000 with the striker penning a two-year deal.

Town boss Mark Cooper is expecting a very different player to the one who joined on loan in 2011.

"He's a different to the player that was here a couple of years ago," Cooper told BBC Wiltshire.

"He's a strong, quick forward who can score goals. I really like him and I think he'll do really well.

"He was one we were always keen on getting but there were always Championship clubs after him.

"He felt that's where he should go at the time so we've had to be patient. We've finally got him."

In Obika's previous spell at the County Ground in 2011, he made three starts, two appearances from the bench and scored no goals.

Obika rarely played for Spurs' first team, only pulling on the white shirt four times, but does have a decent record whilst on a series of loan spells. The 23-year-old has scored 25 goals in 69 starts and 66 substitute appearances across his time at Yeovil, Millwall, Crystal Palace, Peterborough, Charlton, Brighton and Swindon.
