SWINDON Town have signed Jake Reeves on a short-term contract following his release from Brentford.

The deal for the midfielder is still subject to Football League and FA approval but once ratified the 21-year-old will be signed on until January 2015.

Like new teammates Nathan Byrne, Yaser Kasim and Massimo Luongo, Reeves was on the books at Tottenham. At the age of 16 he moved on into Brentford’s youth system where he progressed into the first team under former managers Nicky Forster then Uwe Rösler.

The central midfield player made his first team debut on the final day of the 2010/11 season and has played 47 games for Brentford in all competitions, scoring one goal.

If approved by the Football League and the FA Reeves will go straight into consideration tomorrow's fixture against Coventry City due to Town's current injury situation.

All we need now is 2 defenders and 2 strikers..

IF this was one of are targets why has it taken so long as the man was a free agent...

Fantastic!, great addition to the squad as he's still only 21, schooled at Spurs so he fits the philosophy we have here and best of all we didnt have to pay for him.

Makes you wonder even more about Agombar though, why is he here when he clearly isnt in Cooper's plans?, we really cant afford him to just sit around doing nothing!

Jake Reeves played 25 games in all competitions for Brentford in their promotion winning team last season, 20 in League One, and scored his first professional goal in an FA Cup with Budweiser tie against Staines Town.

He must be a decent player as he made a major contribution to Brentford last season? Good luck at Swindon Jake 👍

I hope you're right lifelong red. Both Smith and Williams have looked good when I've seen them this season. It's early days of course but it appears as though they are able to play together in the same line-up.

Smithy in particular has improved a lot since last season. Probably the most improved player at the club. I was one of his critics last year but fair play to him he's worked hard to develop his games and he's won me over.

Although far from the finished article his hold up play and his link up play is much better. He's a very important player in our team and the way we play. Fingers crossed he plays tomorrow but if not he has two weeks to rest up and get back playing.

So do I hope I'm right- need to keep them together if possible , the longer they can play together , then the better chance they have of gelling . Yes your right about Smithy - the lad has certainly worked hard on his first touch and as you say his link up play has improved also . Still room for improvement though , but getting there.

Unfortunately as you have rubbed people up the wrong way in the past they feel the need to try and dishearten you with a negative response. This is on top of the fact your spelling is not great, but as you have said you've always had issues with it. I am not barracking your English it doesn't bother me but others I feel see it as an easy way to torment you. Forget them and your initial point of Tijane going frees up more wages.

Hang on. We haven't actually signed a player have we? We're not actually looking for players are we? We even even wait to the last day of the emergency loan period or the transfer window so that we get them for as long as possible. Remember Pritchard going back a game or two early.

Maybe just maybe our Chairman and manager do actually know what they are doing after all...........

Good luck, have to admit with our small squad another midfielder seems a strange addition without departures....?

The fact we are refusing to use the experience of ward or Harley seems crazy. I don't rate either that highly but when you have 11 fit players, and the previous seasons club captain sat watching soccer Saturday something is up. I can imagine its down to appearance fees, or extension triggers. Either that or we're just trying to force them out, in which case get them in the shop window.

On the plus side Tuesday night was the best game of football I've seen in a while. Would love to have seen this current philosophy with the financial backing of black.

It's easy to speculate about things we know nothing about. Just have a bit of faith in the men who're running the club...board and management.

They're doing their best with little resources and producing a team that people are beginning to respect. We won't score loads of goals with limited experience and will let a few in, but they're doing a good good, all things considerd.

Agreed, I was hoping a creative midfielder with a bit of guile/trickery who knows where the goal is or a striker would come in. Saying that a centre half would come in handy as well.

My lad noticed Agombar had been given a squad number in the programme on Saturday - what's the point? Does he even exist?

Looking forward to tomorrow, hopefully we can carry on from Tuesday night

How are they doing there best with little resources..budget 1.8m
just the money on gate receipts of 6500 a game gives then 600k to play with,,,THEN you have other money like TV SKY MONEY...Sponsorships food merchandise and thats just of the top of me head
You're not in the real world, bud. The funds are limited. Don't talk about funds of 1.8m. We have a serious cash flow at the club....NO BREAD FOR PLAYERS! By the way its not 'there', but their.

First wellcome to the new player at least he is a Town Player(even for 6 months) Plus te reurn of a Youth Player.
As for posts again is not frustration or doom and gloom it is "CONCERN" as to what will become of STFC.
We had all the cuts/money savings etc no point on going on about that.
I just think they were hoping fo an injury free period, this has not happenned. So again we get a Kid from Derby who is still wet behind the ears/a midfielder who I must say on paper looks just fine.
Yet we have Ward and Harley what in Gods name have they done not to get a game in these difficult times???? is it appearance money or what.
We did need a seasoned C/B and Striker as stats form all games should have rang bells as to how many chances we miss.
Still maybe as I post there will be 3 players on the way(I do hope so) GOOD LUCK REDS TODAY

Welcome aboard young man - on spurs books plus played under Forster and Rosler at Brentford , so has good pedigree , only signed on a short contract though , obviously the club want to have a good long look at him - see how he goes . The fact that the club has not yet gone for a striker , tells me that either Smith or Williams or both could be fit for sat .
Waldon showed on Tuesday night that he is worthy of a place in the starting line up. Much better control and first touch than Smith and faster, more aggressive and skilful than Williams, both could learn a lot from the lad. Waldon's reading of the game and positional sense also look good. Reckon he could be another Rideout, great prospect.

Agombar was obviously just another way of Jed's mafia siphoning yet more ££££ out of STFC - looking at all the different jigsaw-pieces I would be amazed if this wasn't the case.

I wonder whether Cooper will revert to four at the back for the Coventry game as there is no obvious replacement for N.Thompson as sweeper. Kasim is an option, but, ideally, you wouldn't want to move him from his central midfield berth. I think out of Swindon's centre backs Turnbull might be the best player as sweeper as he is the most assured in possession, but it is a lot of responsibility for a 19 year old. If we go with three at the back then this would be my line up (assuming Williams, M.Smith and Barker won't be fit): 3-4-2-1 Foderingham; Branco, Turnbull, Lelan; Barthram, Kasim, L.Thompson, B.Smith; Byrne, Luongo; Waldon.

not sure i agree with that at the moment - i saw Waldon quite close up as he played a lot of the time after coming on right in front of us in the family stand and whilst he looks confident he just wasn't strong enough to hold the ball up and pass it on. Don't get me wrong he's only a young lad and obvious potential there, particularly when the ball is at his feet and he can pick a pass but up front with big centre halves all around him - not sure he's ready for that yet.

saying all that, he may have to be today and hopefully he shows me i'm wrong!

Have you forgotten just how bad Ward was last season?

Why is it not in the real world...Work out at £19 per person per game at 6.500...That = £2,223m just on gate receipts
