TOWN boss Mark Cooper insists that he remains calm when he see’s chairman Lee Power’s number pop up on his mobile phone.

With Swindon desperately trying to strengthen their squad ahead of the closing of the transfer window, Cooper knows that he could get a call anytime to say that they have managed to capture one of their targets.

There has been interest in several of his current squad this summer, and the Town chief knows not to get too excited when the chairman calls.

“I think that you learn in football management that it is only done when it is done,” Cooper said on transfers. “Until that time I never get too excited.

“I would think it (our business) would go all the way to the death.

“I haven’t heard anything, nothing different to Thursday. We have got 14 players at the moment, on the bench (on Saturday), we had young 16-year-old kids on there.

“We are short of depth, we pray that we don’t get any injuries at the moment. But I know that we are working hard behind the scenes to bring the right ones in.”

Cooper added that he was planning to speak to defender Josh Lelan and parent club Derby County imminently.

The 19-year-old’s work experience deal came to an end following Town’s 2-0 success over Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

“I need to speak to Josh tonight (Saturday) and speak to Derby with what we are doing and make a decision over the weekend,” Cooper told the press after Saturday’s success.

“I think that he (Lelan) has got something, he is athletic, he can fit into the way that we play, I’ve have liked what I have seen.”

The Town boss also said that no decision has been made over Joel Chianese, who will train with Town again this week. Cooper also clarified there had been no fresh interest from other clubs in his players.
