HANS Andersen doesn’t see Coventry Bees and Swindon Robins scrapping for a play-off place during the final weeks of the season, with the two teams meeting at Brandon tonight.

The Dane guested for his former club as they beat Eastbourne by 20 points on Thursday night, but will now lead his Bees team into action as the two teams continue their quest for a play-off spot.

Swindon currently hold fourth place with eight meetings remaining, with Coventry close behind with matches in hand, but Andersen believes both teams could make the post season at the expense of poor-travelling Lakeside and Eastbourne.

“I’ve ridden against Eastbourne three nights in a row (from Thursday to Saturday) so they will be sick of the sight of me, but then it’s Swindon for us,” he said.

“I don’t think we’re really fighting against Swindon for a play-off spot, if we can keep doing what we’re doing we will be set for a play-off place although it will probably come down to the wire.

“Lakeside normally have a big advantage at home but they have us and Poole there twice, so they could lose twice and they never travel that well, especially the way Watty (Davey Watt) is going at the moment.”

Andersen was paid for eight points as he returned to the club with whom he won the Elite League in 2012, although he later admitted he was testing some of his machinery, and was pleased to contribute to the Robins’ cause once again.

“I was just pleased to get on a bike really because I haven’t raced over here for over a month, so it was nice to blow the cobwebs off the bike,” he said.

“I can say after we won I had an engine I needed to try and I fiddled around with it a bit, but I’d already guaranteed Rosco I wasn’t going to perform like his previous guest (Davey Watt).

“I scored eight from four rides and there wasn’t any danger because I had the spare bike which I have used a lot around Swindon in the past.”
