SWINDON Town were last night waiting on the results of a scan to determine the extent of the damage sustained by Anton Rodgers’s knee in the warm-up on Saturday.

Rodgers, Town’s only permanent summer signing, was taken off the teamsheet for the visit of Scunthorpe United after suffering a relapse of an old knock in the minutes before kick-off at the County Ground.

He underwent a scan on Monday but, as the Advertiser went to print last night, club officials said that the results had yet to be examined. The former Brighton man is therefore a major doubt for the trip to Luton Town in the Capital One Cup this evening.

Meanwhile, Raphael Branco is expected to start alongside Nathan Thompson and Jordan Turnbull at the heart of the Robins’ defence, with on-loan centre-back Josh Lelan unable to feature for Swindon at Kenilworth Road.

Lelan has not been given permission to play by parent club Derby County and Mark Cooper revealed that he left Branco on the bench on Saturday after being made aware of that eventuality.

He said: “I didn’t play Raffa (on Saturday) for that reason - because I knew Josh couldn’t play and didn’t really want Raffa to get injured. So I rested Raffa with one eye on Tuesday. We are what we are and we get on with it.”
