MELKSHAM Town continued their preparations for the beginning of the new season this weekend with victory in their final pre-season friendly of the summer last weekend.
Darren Perrin’s Toolstation League Premier Division outfit, who were also in action when they lost 1-0 at Chippenham Town last Thursday, claimed a 2-1 win over Hellenic League Shrivenham.
Elsewhere, Josh Ferguson and Martin Johnson got the goals as Chippenham Park beat Lydney Town 2-1 at Hardenhuish Park whilst Corsham Town beat Malmesbury Victoria, now plying their trade in the Wiltshire League, 4-1 at the Southbank.
Pewsey Vale beat a Cirencester Town XI 3-2 in their final friendly, with goals from Luke Enderby and Ciaron Fennell, and a Tom Ritchie penalty, winning the game for Nick Maggs’ side.
Paul Braithwaite’s Wootton Bassett Town were held to a 2-2 draw by Marlborough Town, with Steve Yeardley and Shaun Terry on target.
