DANNY Talbot's quest for a Commonwealth Games medal remains on track after the Trowbridge Tornado breezed into tomorrow's 200m semi-finals.

The 23-year-old sprint star comfortably won his heat at Hampden Park this morning, easing over the line in 20.56 ahead of Canada's Brendon Rodney (20.77) and Emmanuel Dasor (21.06).

Reigning British champion Talbot, who won a bronze medal at the 2012 European Championships, is the second-fastest qualifier at the midway point of this morning's heats and will run in the semi-finals tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile, there was disappointment for Beanacre-based ace Dai Greene, who failed to make the final of the 400m hurdles.

Wales' Greene, who captained the Great Britain athletics team for the London 2012 Olympics, was fifth in his heat with a time of 50.36, with Jamaica's Roxroy Cato winning in 49.51.

Former World Champion Greene, 28, won gold at the 2010 Commonwealths in Dehli and will miss out on the chance to defend his title.
