BIDDESTONE got back to winning ways in the Glos/Wilts Division last weekend as they beat county rivals Warminster by 87 runs.

Jamie Mitchell’s side, who lost at local rivals Chippenham last weekend, were indebted to a sizeable knock from batsman Dwaine Perry and an effective bowling display from Chris Baker as they cruised to a comfortable win at Cuttle Lane.

Warminster put Biddestone in to bat first and had the hosts in trouble early on as the wickets of skipper Mitchell and Niel Bredenkamp fell for just six runs.

But Perry steadied the ship as he smacked ten fours on his way to a knock of 80, with Aled Evans (30 not out), Andy Flynn (24) and Liam Boulton (23) all contributing.

Warminster’s Nick Hembury did his best to stem the tide as he took 3-48 but Mitchell’s men posted 211-7.

Biddestone then made early progress with the ball, dismissing the visitors’ first three batsmen for 30 runs.

Baker starred with the ball as he ended the afternoon with figures of 4-30, while Naeem Khan claimed 3-40.

Pete Hickerton hit 54 for Warminster but his half-century failed to inspire a fightback as Biddestone skittled Warminster for 124 in the 38th over.

Elsewhere, Chippenham suffered a three-wicket loss at the hands of struggling Chipping Sodbury.

Chippenham’s Billy Cookson (73) and Paul Bates (54) found their range but the hosts’ Chris Willoughby took 4-31 as Lee Ward’s side were all out for 210 in the 49th over.

Bryan Jater (74) and Jamie Rendell (63) then guided Chipping Sodbury to 212-7 in the penultimate over.
