DESPITE overseeing an eight-wicket victory in his side’s weekend outing, Wootton Bassett captain Darren Beasant was not a happy man at the close of play.

Beasant was left frustrated by a fielding performance including a handful of dropped catches.

Having allowed Beanacre & Melksham to reach 205-6 from their 45 overs, as Mark Wiltshire hit an unbeaten 94, the hosts eased to victory with eight wickets still intact thanks to Sam Lawro’s stylish century and heavy hitting up front by Jack Dymoke.

“We were probably pleased and frustrated in equal measure. We weren’t at our best in the field and we haven’t given away 200-plus runs all year. I think we probably dropped four or five runs and gave away 30-odd runs in the field,” Beasant said.

“While we were extremely pleased with a win and 23 points, we’re probably a bit frustrated. We batted terrifically and we probably should have done it for nought or one.
