POTTERNE'S batsmen were again in bludgeoning form as the villagers charged on in Wadworth 6X West of England League Glos/Wilts Division (2nd XI) with a huge derby success over Biddestone.

Jamie Hayes hit a magnificent 208 not out of 108 balls, featuring 16 fours and 16 sixes and Clyde Williams added 122 from 129 balls in their side’s mammoth 401-3.

Hayes has now scored 871 in just 12 matches at an average of 174.2.

Biddestone were dismissed 183 in reply, Chris Casey with 55 and Matt Unwin adding 46 as Peter Mathias took 3-22.

Struggling Chippenham slipped to a 111-run defeat at home to title-chasing Chipping Sodbury, who reached 255-4 in their 45 overs, the Chippenham reply being ended on 144.

Marlborough had the better of their county derby against Trowbridge, prevailing by 46 runs.

The visitors reached 226-9, Raghuveer Tupurani scoring 52 as Trowbridge’s Josh Fossey took 3-44.

Chris Fardell hit 50 in the reply, but they came up short on 180-9 as Rob Atkinson and Tupurani both claimed three wickets.

Corsham maintained their interest in the Premier One 2nd XI league battle with a 28-run win over Keynsham at Station Road.

Sayeed Ibrahim hit an unbeaten 67 in the home side’s 229-9 before Will Collier’s 3-44 helped end the Keynsham innings at 201-8.

In Premier Two (2nd XI), Goatacre’s title chances took a hit as they lost out to Thornbury by Thornbury’s 385-5 proved to big a mountain to climb for the visitors, despite C Chapman scoring 61 in 264-9.

Warminster lost out in the battle of the strugglers as Knowle grabbed a 70-run triumph.

Ollie Quelch took 3-52 as Knowle reached 225-8 from their 45 overs and Ankit Shastri’s 89 off 60 balls was the highlight of the Warminster reply, which was ended at 155 all out.

Wayne Pascall scored 78 and Alistair Christie 49 as Wiltshire Division (2nd XI) leaders Marshfield (281-5 declared) put struggling Calne to the sword by 174 runs.

Ben White took 6-23 as Calne were all out for 107.

Second-placed Winsley remain in contention after overhauling Purton’s 230 all out, with 231-7.

Westbury got the better of Lechlade in their mid-table battle, amassing 276-1 from their 45 overs before Lechlade fell short on 242-8.

Great Bedwyn were 202-run winners over Devizes, Joe Blundy finishing unbeaten on 143 and Daniel Swatton adding 41 in their 307-7.

Devizes’ Mark Webb took 3-54 but their reply ended at 105, Jamie Robinson with 4-28 and Lewis Robinson with 3-27.

Nationwide House (214-6) had too much for Burbage & Easton Royal, who missed out by seven runs despite 61 from Nick Patel.
