THREE Wiltshire riders were topping the standings after day one of dressage at the Barbury International Horse Trials today, writes NICKI STRONG.

New Zealanders Lizzie Brown in second and Tim Price, fourth, based at Milton Lilbourne and Mildenhall respectively, challenged British rider Francis Whittington for the lead in the CIC*** section A.

Badgerstown-based rider Holly Woodhead led the CIC** section B, having ridden the only sub-40 penalty test in her section riding On Stage II.

The pair performed out of their skin for a 38.7, just ahead of Kiwi rider Jesse Campbell who bases himself out of Maizey Manor, and in third place ower Staonton St Quintin's Kitty King and Ceylor LAN.

Section D sees Jonelle Price out in front with Cloud Dancer II, whilst Badgerstown’s Ludwig Svennerstal sat in third with Alexander IV, in the horse’s first run since Badminton where they finished a very creditable eighth.

Andrew Nicholson was in equal first place in the Novice section E riding Liberto II, tied with Lucy Jackson on 27.5 penalties.
