BOWOOD House and its grounds provided a stunning backdrop for Events Logic UK’s second Bowood Triathlon series last weekend.

Child and adult competitors from across the country took part in a series of events, swimming in Bowood’s lake before cycling and running through the grounds on the traffic-free course.

Saturday saw the start of the adult super sprint triathlon races 400mswim, 12km bike, 2.5km run) and sprint (750m swim, 21km bike, 5km run) events, which concluded on Sunday .

First male home in the sprint race was Samuel Woods, from Optima Racing team, in a time of one hour seven minutes and 23 seconds.

He was followed by Bromham-based triathlete Mike Milstead (1:07.39), with Adam Wells (1:10.30) third.

First home in the women’s race was Claire Vallance from Mid Oxon CRT in 1:21.06, ahead of Kate Derrick (1:21.25) and Ruth Tucker (Swindon Tri Club, 1:22.17).

Combined Saturday and Sunday placings for the super sprint race saw Events Logic UK’s Jack Webb as the first man home in 43 minutes and 42 seconds.

Calne Alpha 4’s Dan Perrins was next in 46:36, with Lawrence Gurney third in 47:13.

First female was Karen Scott from Thornbury Running Club in 49:24. Runner-up was Laura Emerson in 54:48, with Sophie Edginton third in 56:18.

Around 200 youngsters competed in a range of tailored Tri Star, Youth and Junior events. Saturday’s races included the Tri England South West regional qualifier, as well as the start of the adult races, which continued on Sunday.

Saturday provided an opportunity for many young triathletes to take centre stage , hosting the inter-regional Championships for selection to team Southwest.

Events Logic hosts a three-quarter distance triathlon at Cotswold Water Park on July 19.
