Bellamy joins King's yard
5:30am Wednesday 2nd July 2014 in Sport
CONDITIONAL jockey Tom Bellamy is to join Alan King’s yard after nearly three years with David Pipe.
Bellamy, the son of former rider and Towcester clerk of the course Robert Bellamy, joined Pipe in August 2011 and partnered 13 winners for the trainer.
He missed a large chunk of last year after breaking his leg at Taunton in April 2013, but returned to action in October and has since ridden six winners.
“Tom is moving to pastures new shortly and joining the Alan King team,” Pipe wrote on his website.
“He missed a lot of last season due to a broken leg but has come back riding winners and he is a very capable young jockey.
“He will be missed but I would like to wish him the best of luck with his new career challenge. “ Pipe, who added fellow conditional Kieron Edgar had started riding out again after breaking his leg in March, also revealed amateur Michael Heard would be turning professional.
He continued: “Michael is 21 and has ridden four winners under rules and 41 point-to-pointing.
“He is a good young rider who can claim 10lb off of 10st so should be able to make his mark in the professional ranks.”
