SWINDON TOWN: Trust STFC throw their support behind Power after High Court ruling
SWINDON Town Supporters' Trust have given their backing to Lee Power following his victory at the High Court this morning.
Power was confirmed by Nicholas Strauss QC as the owner of the club and now holds a 99 per cent stake in Swindon Town.
Trust STFC have this afternoon released a statement in which they say they are "pleased and relieved" that the judge ruled in Power's favour in the wake of a legal challenge from Seebeck 87 Ltd, the company used by former chairman Jed McCrory and his business partners to obtain the club in January and February 2013.
The statement reads: "Swindon Town Supporters Trust is pleased and relieved that the High Court has confirmed Lee Power as the owner of Swindon Town Football Club.
"Former Trust Chair John Ward was in court throughout the hearing with the Trust’s lawyers and adds: 'I was impressed by Lee Power’s integrity and determination during a lengthy and at times aggressive cross-examination.
"'Even more impressive were his words to the Town fans present during one of the breaks: he said that the important thing, assuming he won, would be to establish the business side on a firm basis so that when the time came for him to move on there would be a stable club for the fans to support.
"'We are lucky to have an owner who sees himself as a steward of the club for the fans and the Trust calls on all supporters to get behind him. To have an effective voice join the Trust and let’s help Lee build a successful football club on and off the field.”
